In this episode of the Team Flower Podcast, David is walking us through his various roles at Mayesh Wholesale and sharing his extensive knowledge about the industry. He’s seen many changes in the floral industry, and we are chatting about the positive and negative changes he’s come across in his years of service. We are talking about a day in the life of a Mayesh rep, and discussing how designers can be a rep’s favorite customer.
David Dahlson was born in Los Angeles, but grew up in London, England. He graduated with a degree in Fine Art from the University of London, and moved back to Los Angeles shortly afterwards. David started a punk-jazz band and toured the USA five times, releasing 4 albums. In 1982, he joined Mayesh working autumn, winter and spring, and going on the road in the summer.
David has contributed to Mayesh expansion in a variety of ways: opening and siting satellite locations in Greater Los Angeles, developing new sources and novel varieties from the USA and around the world, creating the Shipping Dept., helping the cultivation of garden roses in South America, and many other things. After a 4-year period of growing flowers on his how, he returned to Mayesh where he continues to be to be enthusiastic about flowers, as well as the growth of domestic production, and still driven to seek out new and novel products.
