A modern take to floral centrepieces caught the attention of world-renowned magazine VOGUE, who asked florist Raysa Farah to educate their audience on how she arranges her floral favourites for wedding centrepieces.

Raysa's inspiration comes from the season and the natural surroundings, colour, and scent that it brings.

She is intentional in her technique, as well as her reasoning behind choosing certain flower stems. She believes there is no right or wrong way in terms of the overall aesthetic—beauty is subjective. In her own words, "enjoying the process is key."

Tips on floral centrepieces:

• Choose stems that fill large spaces (focal flowers)

• Use filler flowers to add detail to the arrangement

• Dainty and intricate stems that will hold a conversation around the dinner table due to their detail (secondary flower)

• Avoid overfilling/overcrowding the vase as this restricts

• Choose stems that are highly scented naturally to add to the environment at a wedding/event.

• Choose stems that will add height to the arrangement

• Look over your arrangement as you work and frequently rotate when creating and filling at a birds-eye view to create an arrangement that has detail from every angle

• Understand the mechanics of floral vase arranging and the environment in which flowers thrive

Ingredients:

• (focal flower) Dahlia Café au lait – 3 stems

• (secondary flower) Porcelina spray roses- 9 stems

• (focal flower) Vuvezela garden roses- 5 stems

• (secondary flower) Eustoma Apricot lisianthus – 5 stems

• Filler flower Rice flower- 3 stems

• (secondary flower) bride

• (To add height) white delphinium – 3 stems

• Pampas grass – 1 stem

• (Optional extra) twigs – 3 stems

Tools:

• Vessel/vase or fruit bowl of your choice

• Chicken wire

• Tape to secure the chicken wire
