This wild boho arbor with pampas grass was the perfect backdrop for a mountaintop elopement!

Getting a full creative license for any event is always the best. This hilltop boho elopement lent itself to the most gorgeous arch piece that flowed and moved just as well as the bride’s dress! The elopement was recent—April 24th, 2021—in Foresthill, California.

Logistics and Transportation

The biggest challenge was the 3+ hour windy drive to get there. Traveling to install a large arch poses a bit of difficulty. Without the ability to fully design and assemble a large piece ahead of time, it is crucial to understand four things:

How the arch breaks down
How it will fit in the vehicle used to transport it
How much can be done ahead of time
How much remains to design on-site.

One of the reasons working with dried ingredients is so great is that they lend themselves to design many days ahead of time.

This particular arch breaks down into four pieces: 2 base pieces and 2 top pieces.

Wrapping the structure in chicken wire was key to plugging in all of the dried palm fronds, pampas grass, and even the ruscus since it is very hardy.

Use care to pack the transport vehicle, and don’t be afraid to layer the pieces on top of one another. Finishing up on-site will be pretty simple, but you should still allow a couple of hours to ensure no chicken wire is showing through.
