Staff Picks: Our Favorite Accent Decor Items for Special Events

Our team has rounded up a few of our Accent Decor favorites to share with you this week!

Sometimes you need a little inspiration to find an adaptable, flexible centerpiece vase or compote, your new favorite go-to votive, or refreshingly unique planters, retail giftables, and decor pieces for the perfect decorative grouping.

We hope they inspire you to break creative rules, find new fixes to old problems, and snag a new set of goodies that will work perfectly for your next event (and the next one and the one after that!).

Kelly: See My Top 18 Containers and Decor Items

I created a big list of my absolute all-time favorite centerpiece vases, votives, event decor items and more from Accent Decor. Take a look at it here

But this Accent Decor piece from the new Acropolis Collection is just a delight! It makes me imagine being filled with happy flowery thoughts, and I wish those same thoughts for you, too!

Amanda: Pots and Planters in Easily Adaptable Designs

The Astrid Pot

I love the classic, soft shape of this container. It’s versatile and suits many design tastes and style preferences, and depending on the client, could easily be used for a casual, colorful, and inviting gift arrangement with a reusable planter or serve as a vessel in a moody or formal long-lasting arrangement for an upscale boutique hotel lobby.

This adorable container is perfectly giftable, and in fact, I’ve gifted it to someone myself! The cheeky, fun artwork makes a delightful congratulatory gift to a friend with a small houseplant or colorful arrangement included as part of the gift.

The Spotti Pot

This planter is truly resourceful. If you’re looking for refined texture and a container that will do well indoors or out, the Spotti Pot is a sure winner! It works for a variety of indoor decor styles for houseplants, and it brings a bit of playful elegance to a patio, front porch, or balcony container garden. (Just be sure to overwinter this container inside for longer outdoor use!)

Jacelyn: 5 Gorgeous Containers for Event Design Work

Benoit Compote

I have absolutely loved using this compote for large arrangements! It adds such a classic and romantic feel to any arrangement while offering a good amount of space to build and create in. Since it is such a good neutral, this compote has definitely been a fan favorite for our clients. I highly recommend! (And side note: It’s also one of Kelly’s top favorites. Check out her full list of favorites here.)

To echo Amanda’s planter recommendation above, this container is honestly my personal go-to for any arrangement! It’s the ideal size for small and medium arrangements. I have used this pot for weddings, flower deliveries, and special occasions—you name it! I love the neutral colors that are available and the slight brushed texture! If you are looking for a basic pot to stock up on, it’s the Astrid Pot!

Highball Bud Vase

If you don’t have these bud vases, run and order them now! I can’t rave about these enough! They fit into any mood board and are perfect for any wedding or special occasion. They are minimal and are the best to layer with on a tablescape. All our clients love them, and whether their event has an indoor boho vibe or outdoor garden look, these will be your go-to!

Winnie Compote

I just recommended this compote for a 2021 bride and she fell in love, as did I. This compote is going to be perfect for her European garden inspired wedding. The faded terracotta is a great neutral for any color scheme, and I can’t wait to design in it! It’s smooth texture and wide frame will be such a lovely touch to any tablescape.

Antique White Pot

I love this pot! A lot of my designs are garden inspired, so this worn antique pot is the perfect vibe for many of my arrangements. There are so many sizes to choose from, which makes it perfect for any size tablescape we’re working on.

The Brass Wreath

This wreath base is affordable, classic, and simple—leaving room for creativity to shine! I love the idea of reusing the base and updating it with foliage and blooms from each season. It would also be great to use for wreath workshops or wedding work.

With Love Vase

I think this vase would be the perfect Valentine’s gift! It can be filled with flowers (dried would be ideal here!) or left empty and used to collect little notes and trinkets. I am someone who loves saving my memories in physical form—things like a concert ticket stub, pressed petals, or a special coin—and I think this vase would be the perfect place to store those “memories” with loved ones!

Monsieur Footed Pot

Could this perhaps be the new male counterpart to the infamous Celfie Pot? I think so! This handsome pot is a lighthearted and happy piece that would bring a big smile to any Valentine’s arrangement!

Janine: Lanterns, Votives, and Accessories

Tangier Lantern

Tangier Lantern

This lantern is the stuff of my DREAMS. Having spent a good deal of time in Morocco (where the city of Tangiers is located), it plucks at my heartstrings with its ode to that beautiful culture. For event work, I would use it as a focal point for a bohemian style wedding ceremony paired with a Turkish rug of rich color and design with the bride carrying a large bouquet full of moody blooms and loads of texture. (Or hanging over my dining room table—that would be great, too!)

Boutique Bud Vase

Of the small amount of inventory I have purchased, bud vases definitely make up the majority. They are a wonderfully cost-efficient option for weddings and events, and these are some of my favorites. (They’re also on Kelly’s top Accent Decor recommendations, which you can check out here.) I love that each size has a slightly different look. They have a cohesive mix-match feel, while also elevating an event with their classy look. You can use them as one-offs on gift tables or a bar, or you can use a collection of them as a centerpiece.

April Vase

It is essential to have versatile pieces as a part of your inventory. That’s why I love the April Vase! It can be used as a votive/candle holder or as a vase for flowers. As far as candles go, you could use smaller tea light candles or large pillar candles. The larger size vase is a great option for repurposing bridesmaids’ bouquets at the reception area. Plus, they pair perfectly with the Boutique Bud Vases!

Cage Compote

Obviously, this is not a lantern, a votive, OR an accessory, but I couldn’t help but share because what a find! I’m a big fan of all things antique and anything with a boho vibe. That’s why the cage compote was a must-have in my inventory! Accent Decor describes it as “modern but nostalgic,” and I can’t help but agree. The matte gold cage pairs with just about any color palette—especially those dark moody tones. And if you have an event that wouldn’t work well with the gold cage, you can easily remove the thick glass compote to use as a stand-alone piece. It’s two for one!
