Big Floristry in a Small Town with Patience Pickner
Flower Discoveries: Practicing Vulnerability
As floral designers, you are artists! Your medium is the loveliest and most interesting growth of the earth—and boy are flowers inspiring! Even so, you can hit a creative block just like any other artist.
One of the best ways to overcome this block is to ask your peers for their input on your designs! Making yourself vulnerable in this way can seem daunting—we get it—but the perspectives of others can often be the best remedy for clearing a muddled head (or heart).
That’s one of the reasons we created a safe space for Team Flower Members to meet! The Team Flower Community is a place where you get to practice vulnerability is asking questions or even in posting your work for feedback from others. Let us reiterate—this is a safe place for you. All are welcome here!
Special Guest: Patience Pickner of The Picket Fence
Joining Kelly today is Patience Pickner from the small town of Chamberlain in South Dakota! Even though her business is located in a small town, it has grown in size and popularity over the years. She’s here sharing what’s unique about her business and how the world of flowers is truly a “small” one.
You’ll hear the principles of a good business as well as tips on how you can incorporate them in your own floral venture. Patience is also chatting about some of her design knowledge—from the systems needed to create 20 centerpieces to sympathy work to color theory. You’ll find it all (and more!) right here on the Team Flower Podcast!
Patience is a floral artist and decor diva! The Picket Fence is a full-service flower shop. They're known for their nature-inspired floral designs and their romantic wedding work.
