Staying in Love with Floristry with Paula Pryke
Flower Discoveries
The pandemic has changed a lot of things for a lot of people, and the music performance industry is no different. Click here to see how plants have invaded opera houses! This led the Team Flower Staff to a discussion of how plants benefit from words (and a study done by a school about how bullying plants affected their growth (watch the video here!). We’re really no different. Speaking life over ourselves rather than negativity is essential for success.

Special Guest: Paula Pryke
Paula Pryke is a world-renowned designer, teacher, and author, and today she’s joining Kelly to chat about falling out of love with the floristry business. First, you’ll hear how Paula’s career in the industry began with an escape from a job she wasn’t really enjoying (like so many!). She’s chatting about her various books, how she got published, and which of the books is her favorite! Paula is sharing an alternative to flower foam—Agrawool—as well as a few tips for beginners when creating a bouquet.
Paula is a world-renowned florist who has been based in London for over thirty years. In 1988, Paula had a dream of opening a little flower shop in Islington. From these humble beginnings she changed the face of British floristry and has become one of London's top florists.
The Power of a Strong Referral Network
It’s no secret that the floral and event industry is ripe with competition, but what could happen if that competitiveness turned into support? Lauren Wiebe, Team Flower Member and owner of Stone House Creative, is here to tell you about how the constant battle to be at the top can turn into a beautifully freeing referral network. You’ll be inspired by her experience, and we hope you’ll take it into your own floral community!
