Video: A Lesson in Reflective Floral Design

Video: A Lesson in Reflective Floral Design

In this floral design tutorial video, the arrangement’s flowers are all from Certified American Grown farms. My vessel is from Accent Decor, and I’m using a flower frog (I love flower frogs!) from Floral Genius.

As I design, I’m taking time to really look at the flowers and enjoy them—stem by stem. Foxglove is one of my favorite ingredients. I love their little freckles and the fact that they are a place for bumblebees to take a rest.

I’m also listening to my surroundings. The various songs of the birds fluttering about outside bring me great peace. As I feel the rough edges of the bells, they remind me that despite their texture, they still belong in this arrangement. I’m giving them each a special place.

Speaking of belonging, you may come across a flower that doesn’t seem to quite fit. But often times, if you place it in just the right spot, it finds its home and purpose in your arrangement.

There’s a lesson there for all of us—we belong. YOU belong. Whether you’re in a season of floating and dancing up high for all to see, or you’re in a place of support and foundation, there’s space for you here.
