Video: Make a Simple, Elegant Floral Design with Only 2 Ingredients
Poppies and Solomon's seal are a sweet late-spring pair. I wanted to show them both off in a simple floral arrangement with just two ingredients—perfect for dressing up a windowsill at home, wedding bar, or guestbook table on the fly!
For this two-ingredient arrangement, start with a small but upright vessel fixed with a floral frog. Set the largest and/or tallest piece of Solomon’s seal in the middle. Next, fan the others out and to the sides in slightly descending order of size and height.
Place your largest (or at least your tallest) poppy in or near the center in front of the Solomon’s seal backdrop, keeping it close to the same height as the foliage layer.
Stair-step the rest of the poppies in fairly close to the center, creating a nice wide implied line through the middle for maximum visual impact.
Two Ingredients Used (Sourced Locally in May):
Solomon's Seal
Poppies
Key Points:
Keep the rule of thirds in mind for proportionality to the container as you arrange.
Give everything space to “breathe” a bit to keep your simple arrangement elegant!
