Video: Wiring flowers for bouquets

In this video Kelly demonstrates how to take an amaryllis bud and create a thin flexible stem with wire so it can be used in bridal bouquets and other applications otherwise impossible with thick, hollow amaryllis stems.

Wiring is a big area of passion for Kelly because she believes mastery in foundational floral design techniques is a big advantage for today’s floral professionals. In addition to reducing the weight of a flower, professional wiring techniques give designers maximum control in detailed design work like crowns and boutonnieres and increase quality of finished products. Once mastered, wiring is a quick, sure-fire way to prevent broken stems and increase longevity of boutonnieres at a wedding.

Wire and tape are available through Oasis Floral Products.
