Video: Wiring Flowers for Bouquets

Wondering how to wire flowers for bouquets? In this video, I’ll demonstrate how to take an amaryllis bud and create a thin flexible stem with wire. That way, it can be used in bridal bouquets and other applications otherwise impossible with thick, hollow amaryllis stems.

Wiring is a big area of passion for me because I believe mastery in foundational floral design techniques gives a big advantage to today’s floral professionals.

In addition to reducing the weight of a flower, professional wiring techniques give designers maximum control in detailed design work—such as crowns and boutonnieres—and increase the quality of the finished product.

Once mastered, wiring is a quick, sure-fire way to prevent broken stems and increase longevity of boutonnieres at a wedding.
