Fast Flower Video: Happy Valentine's Day

Whether you work in a flower shop, have a stand at a farmer’s market, or anything in between, knowing how to design a wrapped bouquet is an essential tool to have in your tool belt. Start by laying out a large square of cellophane, layer sheets of colored tissue paper on top of it, and then cover those with another square of cellophane. Turn it so that it lays on the table in front of you like a diamond shape. This will be your water-resistant wrap!

Lay out your flower materials in order of color, size, or texture, and then build a flat-lay bouquet on the middle of the diamond, starting with your greenery, then filler, tall color-carrying pieces, and finally focal flowers.

Trim the ends of your flowers, wrap the stems in a moist paper towel, and then fold the bottom corner of the cellophane diamond up over the paper towel at the base of your stems, accordion-folding the sides of the cellophane in as well to create a frame around your bouquet. Finish with ribbon!

Key Points:

  • Prepare your workspace and your packaging before you begin

  • Layer (stairstep) your focal blooms a bit so that they all shine, and keep your largest flowers low in the bouquet to maintain a sense of balance

  • Build your bouquet directly on the laid out wrapping for a quick and easy finish!
