Video: Tips for Body Mindfulness in the Midst of Burnout
Looking for tips to increase your body mindfulness and awareness in the midst of burnout (or in order to prevent it entirely)?
This video from the Team Flower Business Growth class covers how to alleviate burnout in our physical bodies.
Burnout in the floral industry is something we’ve all either heard about or felt ourselves, and it can be caused by a variety of different things—one of which is physical pain or exhaustion.
Pain is our body’s way of telling us that something is amiss.
Pain is also a signal to get back to balance, and by being aware of what’s going on in your body, you’re able to sense pain before it becomes too intense.
If you find yourself full of stress and experiencing physical pain, this video will give a few pointers on how to pinpoint what’s going on. If you’re not experiencing burnout at all, this video will share tips on how to stay that way physically.
How to Conduct a Self-Body Scan
Lay flat on a firm surface. (Carpeting or a bed is not going to be as effective as a wood or tile floor.)
As you’re laying on the ground, examine what’s going on in your body from the top of your head to the tips of your toes.
Categorize the different parts of your body by assigning them a color—red, yellow, and green. Red equals pain, yellow is middle ground, and green is calm and peaceful.
Be specific in your scan. Your head includes your eyes, ears, nose, mouth, etc., and each could be a different color.
Take time to visualize your relaxation.
Continue to do this practice for several weeks as you become more aware of your body.
